The big focus today is the US Presidential Debate - the first one between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. The debate will start at 9 pm ET. Polling is neck and neck between the two candidates. Presidential debates tend to be inconsequential for the markets but this could be an opportunity to learn more about VP Harris and her policies, which could lead to some election trades, one way or another.
Yesterday, we saw markets bounce after getting somewhat oversold the previous week. Asian and European markets have also followed through this morning. Other than China. The Hang Seng Property index made record lows this morning. China’s measures have failed to jumpstart consumer spending while the data continues to put pressure on the stock market.
